Wellness in the Wild in Botswana and Namibia
Our growing portfolio of Safari and Spa destinations consists of the following lodges:
Jack’s Camp
One of the most iconic and celebrated camps in all of Africa. Situated on the edge of a vast saltpan, the remnants of a prehistoric super lake, the camp’s striking, otherworldly setting invokes the savage beauty of a long-forgotten Africa. A visit here may be as close as you’ll ever get to feeling that you’re on a different planet. The camp is an oasis of comfort and style in midst of the Kalahari. Jack’s Camp is all about surprises. First, there is the camp itself, which consists of luxurious and stylish old-world tents, complete with bhukara-muslin draped walls, Persian rugs, and vintage lithographs, as well as a private museum, a swimming pool pavilion and a decadent tea tent.
San Camp
offers a refuge of comfort and civilization in a beautifully austere desert setting. The camp, with its six guest tents, is situated on the edge of the vast and mysterious Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, the remnant of an extinct super lake that once covered most of Botswana. The area is so vast and open that you can literally see the curve of the Earth! The camp’s classic white tents are majestically perched on the shore of the sparkling saltpan, each sheltered by a cluster of stately desert palms. The camp exudes minimalist safari elegance and is undoubtedly one of the most unique and romantic camps in all of Africa.
Camp Kalahari
A laid back base for your desert experience. Set amongst the palms on Hyena Island, Camp Kalahari is where the action is. It’s not uncommon to sit down at the dinner table while the famous black-maned lions of the Kalahari roar nearby, or to doze off while listening to the sounds of elephants feasting on palm nuts just outside your tent. This traditional bush camp has ten spacious Meru tents with en suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, and flush toilets. Common areas include a thatched central library; a living and dining area featuring an eclectic mix of original African furniture and textiles, and colonial antiques; and a thatched swimming pool – the perfect place to cool off on a hot afternoon.
Planet BaObab
Follow the road pointed out by the giant anteater and you’ll discover the intriguingly named Planet Baobab… This is the Baobab Capital of the World, where the average age of each tree is more than 4000 years, and the boundless lunar landscape of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans are the size of Switzerland. How’s that for awe-inspiring?
This is a quirky place in a quirky part of the world, where we live cheek to tusk with old elephants; sleep in basic but oh so Afro-chic Bakalanga Huts; swim in the largest, coolest pool in the Kalahari; eat the finest pan-African cuisine, and of course, drink something cold with hunters and vagabonds, travellers and locals in the funkiest bar in Africa. It’s the coolest desert oasis around – and a part of Africa that few will experience, but all will remember.
Kwessi Dunes
Kwessi Dunes is located deep in Namibia’s striking NamibRand Nature Reserve, a vast desert wilderness of over 200,000 hectares. With its rolling desert plains and backdrop of craggy mountains and iconic red dunes, this is a place where time seems to stand still and the space is never-ending. Here, it’s not about chasing big game but rather soaking up the beauty of the colourful landscape, admiring the antelope that scatter the sand, and gazing at the stars that light up the night sky.
At Kwessi Dunes, you’ll find 12 cool and comfortable (and air-conditioned) chalets all with canvas walls and thatched roofs. Each bedroom has a separate ‘star gazer’ room, completely open to the sky, and the perfect spot from which to watch the celestial theatre show above. Views from the rooms, the main area and the swimming pool are of the vast, desert vistas and when you can bear to tear your eyes away. Next to spa treatments enjoy quad biking, scenic drives and walks, hot air ballooning, helicopter flights, horse riding and day trips to Sossusvlei.
OngAVa
One of the most prestegious Safari lodges in Nambia. Located next to Etosha. You are overlooking the waterhole while having a treatment. Very spectacular.
Soft air, crackling with bird song and a chorus of lion roars, this is just a small, spectacular part of the Ongava experience. Rhino approaching on foot, game drives into the fabled Etosha National Park, nights spent around the fire, watching as some of the world's most illusive and endangered animals drink at at subtly lit waterholes. This is your chance to be immersed in the wild.
Ongava Game Reserve provides our visitors with the ultimate in accommodation, offering comfort, luxury and a connection to the earth.

ONGUMA CAMP KALA
Rising from the ashes where Onguma Treetop Camp once stood - the new all-elegant, all-exclusive, all-exquisite Onguma Camp Kala. The same great bush setting and waterhole but the camp on a whole new level.
With only four elevated suites, Camp Kala is intimate and private. Each suite has a large private deck, a plunge pool and wood-fired hot tub and a shaded sala area with a king size daybed and endless waterhole views. If you aren’t on a game drive on the reserve or in Etosha National Park, you’ll be hanging out in your suite happily watching the animals come and go. This is the lap of luxury.
Connected by walkways the main area features a round central tower which, being mud plastered, resembles a termite mound. You’ll see many in these parts. The camp offers of a cocktail bar, beautiful deck with ample outside seating, a yoga deck and a fire pit. Then there’s a viewing hide for lazy days game viewing at eye level, a gym and a spa. The dining area has an open plan ‘show’ kitchen and a pantry to delight. You can even do a private dinner at your own suite. It’s all-round incredible.
On the 34,000 ha Private Onguma Reserve, you have the opportunity to see numerous wildlife including all the species you would find inside Etosha National Park and a good chance of seeing black rhino. Here you don’t just get to experience the incredible wildlife in this beautiful natural environment, you get to be a part of helping to protect it. It is part of the philosophy and conservation at Onguma and it’s very much a part of Camp Kala too. Just one more thing that makes this lodge special.
ONGUMA THE FORT
The Fort is unlike any other, the only one of its kind in Namibia.
It is built in exactly the right spot to give guests probably one of the best sunset views in the whole of Namibia – overlooking the beautiful scarceness of the Etosha Pans, decorated only with its wild animals and hundreds of Camel Thorn trees.
Upon arriving at The Fort, you will be received by not only our friendly staff, but also massive raw walls, stunning stone cladded features and a huge tower with views toward Etosha and Fisher’s Pan. The Fort will surprise you at every corner; a classical African feel combined with a touch of Moroccan and Indian flavours, characterised by a selection of the most beautiful antique windows and doors.
The Fort spa offers massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and body treatments.
onguma bush camp
Onguma Bush Camp offers 18 rooms and is ideal for families with children. Family loft rooms ensure the kids will have a great safari. The lounge and dining areas overlook a stunning waterhole that affords great opportunities to see nature at play around the clock. You don’t even have to leave the camp to see game – they come to you! What better place to enjoy a sundowner drink.
The Bush Camp spa offers massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and body treatments. It has two treatment rooms.
Safarihoek lodge
In the middle of northern Namibia’s arid, captivating savannah, bordering the world-famous Etosha National Park, is Safarihoek Lodge. Perched on top of a hill, overlooking the plains below, Safarihoek is a stylish sort of place, and you’ll find cool, thatched chalets all with private decks, a double-storey photography hide, and a swimming pool with 180-degree vistas of the brilliant savannah.
But if there’s one thing about Safarihoek, it’s the location. Everywhere you turn, the rugged Namibian savannah stretches into the distance, with only a spangly tree here, and a spiky bush there. The wildlife roams freely across the never-ending space, unhindered and unobstructed. This is a place of silence and solitude, and a rare opportunity to be at one with nature and the animals that thrive here.
Etosha Heights Mountain lodge
A room with a view
Along with good wine, cheese, and the founders of Natural Selection, some things get better with age – and Etosha Mountain Lodge is one of them. Located in the exclusive Etosha Heights Private Reserve on the southwest border of Etosha National Park, the lodge has been going strong for over 10 years and we were delighted to take the reins in 2018. At the lodge, you can expect nine, classically-Namibian chalets, all with 180-degree, camera-loving panoramas of the wilderness, a beautiful main ‘lapa’ area, and a cool swimming pool for the hot African days.
The activities certainly don’t disappoint either. Think morning and afternoon game drives in the private reserve, a former hunting concession and one which we are pleased to be rehabilitating into a photographic safari area. Go out in search of big cats and watch for signs of elephant on the horizon; watch all the action at the waterhole in front of camp; hop on a night drive with some of the best guides out there; and, of course, track endangered rhino, the icons of the area.
Safarihouse
Homestead hospitality
Located on the Etosha Heights Private Reserve, just next to Safarihoek Lodge, it’s a traditional Namibian farmhouse that we’ve given the Natural Selection treatment and can be booked on an exclusive-use basis. Expect three, ensuite bedrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room and sitting area inside. Outside, there’s a large veranda with a braai and plenty of outdoor seating, a fire pit and a second thatched braai area, as well as a swimming pool, all amidst the luscious green gardens.
But perhaps the biggest luxury on offer at Safari House is freedom. With a private guide, vehicle and a chef all to yourself, it’s a safari that’s 100% on your terms whether you want to look for big game early in the morning, or have a leisurely start to the day. Flexibility is key here and the house is a perfect spot for families, groups of friends and adventurers looking for their very own, day-to-day itinerary.
EPACHA
At Epacha and Eagles Nest we are involved with consultancy and sourcing therapists.
